Aga A type of oven fuelled by oil, gas or solid fuel which never goes out. Another brand is the Rayburn. (I suspect a US equivalent might be a homestead wood stove that's kept alight 24 hours a day.) Possession of an Aga has equal status, in Britain, to ownership of a Rolls Royce. (Except that a working Rolls Royce sometimes... goes out..)

Allotment A plot of land rented from the local Council (qv) at a token rent whereon to grow vegetables. Usually administered by a fierce Committee which creates and enforces its own Rules of unfathomable perversity.

Bi-Cameral Pot: a recycled juice carton with an impermeable partition in the middle and a door cut in the front, to facilitate the growth of seedlings and their transplanting without root shock

BottleBeds A cunning formation of some six (or 50 ) empty wine bottles. Band them together into bandoliers, affixed with industrial sealing tape. Circle them to form the sides of a Pot. Shroud them with manure bag plastic, or any weather-resistant substance... to resist rain and wind leaching.
Fill the centre with compost, and the bottles with water. Any plant you grow therein, outdoors, will have a four-week jump start on plants you set into conventional pots. Because the water-filled bottles radiate back heat energy into the soil. If you live in Nepal, substitute plastic milk bottles. They don't crack in frost.

Council The local government in the UK for a parish (qv), town, county or region. It is traditional that, before any Council can reach a decision, a unicorn must fly into the Council chamber with a virgin on its back singing Jerusalem...
